The Anambra State Fire Service has successfully contained a fire outbreak at a commercial 3-storey building in Ifite-Awka, Awka South Local Government Area.The incident occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Izunna Street, Ifite-Awka, when a live power generator set sparked a fire that threatened to engulf the eight-apartment building.

The Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call at 12:10 pm and immediately deployed a crew of firefighters and equipment to the scene. The firefighters battled the blaze and successfully contained it, preventing widespread damage to the building and its contents.Although some parts of the roof materials, slab, and walls of the building were affected, the swift response of the fire service prevented a major disaster.

The firefighters withdrew from the scene at 2:25 pm on the same day, bringing the incident under control.The Anambra State Fire Service has urged residents to call for help promptly in the event of a fire outbreak, emphasizing the importance of timely response in preventing disasters.
